Sarah Good
Sarah Good lived her life in debt, struggled to survive, and had social issues. Her husband was William Good and they had two children. Eventually, they became homeless beggars. After Sarah was indicted for witchcraft, her entire family was frightened into testifying against her. Her husband even said:
"It was her bad carriage to [me] and indeed say I with tears that she is enemy to all good."
-William Good
During the pre-trial hearing, she protested:
Magistrate John Hawthorne questioned, "Why do you hurt these children?"
Sarah Good responded, "I do not hurt them. I scorn it. I am falsely accused."
-Pre-trial Hearing of Sarah Good
Sarah was still condemned to be hanged in the gallows. When she was asked one last time to confess she screamed:
"You're a liar! I'm no more a witch than you are a wizard! If you take my life away, God will give you blood to drink!"
